Fathom is a take on financial depth charts that trades density for clarity. The aim was a view that rewards a closer look rather than overwhelming it, pairing slow-moving data with a calm, legible surface.
The scales
Most of the effort went into the scales. Choosing the right transforms meant the interesting movement stayed visible without the extremes flattening everything else.
Good editing
It is the most data-heavy thing here, and the project that most convinced me that good visualisation is mostly good editing.
